I was born to two Cuban immigrants and raised in Philadelphia. Today I study computer science at Trinity College Dublin.

Many people saw moving from the US to Dublin for CS as a step down. I had been accepted to respected American schools, and more than a few told me I was making the wrong call.

I saw an opportunity. Dublin's tech scene is growing fast, driven by tax incentives, post-Brexit consolidation, and a real concentration of people building things. It is also a smaller room, one where being American still carries a kind of social capital and where standing out matters more.

Getting into Hack Europe as a first-year, when almost none of my peers did, confirmed the bet for me. I did not just pick a school; I picked a market where I knew I could have an edge.
